    Throughout the summer and into the fall, UofL’s Office of Admissions hosts a number of special visits on campus, including Family & Friends Campus Visit (June 14), Academically Proficient Diversity College Day (June 19), Out of State Campus Visit (July 7), Equine Industry Day (Aug. 18) and more.

     

    FACULTY AND STAFF NOTABLES

    Professor Katherine Massoth (History) has received the American Historical Association’s Albert J. Beveridge Grant, which will support her archival research in southern New Mexico. Additionally, she has been accepted into the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Bridging National Borders in North America Seminar for University Faculty in which she will be a scholar-in-residence at the Newberry Library this summer.

    ‘Moana’ to kick off Cards Under the Stars summer movie series

    June 2, 6:30 p.m., Natural Sciences Lawn; Free
    UofL’s summer family movie series is back with “Moana” kicking off the season June 2. Pre-movie activities include children’s inflatables and games and appearances by members of Louisville League of Mascots. Concessions will be available for purchase from 502 Café and SnoWhat Snoballs. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

    4th Annual Louisville Symposium on Heart Disease in Women: Essentials of Heart Healthy Living

    The conference provides expert perspectives on the best management of heart disease in women with the most innovative information pertaining to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Topics include: Heart healthy diet, Congestive heart failure, Ischemic heart disease, Valvular heart disease, Arrhythmias, Cardiac imaging and diagnostics and Therapeutic dilemmas in cardiovascular management in women.     Carnosine for Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Study

    The UofL Health Sciences Center is seeking PAD patients between age 50-80 with and without claudication to determine whether Carnosine/Placebo supplementation for 6 months improves walking ability.     Join us for sponsored guest speaker, James Udelson, MD, Chief, Division of Cardiology – Tufts Medical Center, Professor of Medicine and Radiology – Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. Udelson will present “Chronic Heart Failure: New Therapeutic Options for Improving Patient Outcomes.” Reviewing how to appropriately use newer and targeted treatment options as a means to optimize clinical outcomes in HF patients.
