The United States Army Drill Team will perform during halftime Saturday at the UofL football game. The Cards face Virginia and kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. The U.S. Army Drill Team was organized to concentrate on precise marching and crisp rifle drill. They have supported The Old Guard’s ceremonial missions for almost 60 years. Soldiers are selected for this elite unit after six months of rigorous and competitive drill practice.

Thousands of animals die in shelters daily, so it is up to us, to help To get a list of needed items please send an email. Regretfully, there will be no drop off point at HSC this year.

The application deadline for this Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is Friday, November 17. This selective Faculty Learning Community, beginning in January, seeks to cultivate faculty champions for incorporating instructional innovation and creativity in the classroom. The FLC will meet monthly, January through April and September through December of 2018.

The ‘Boburb’ vs. the Gated Community, Dr. Beau Weston

Some city neighborhoods are walkable, mixed-use, dense places, with coffeehouses, bookstores, arts venues, and liberals. This is the “boburb,” the natural home of the “bourgeois bohemians” – people with a bourgeois work ethic but bohemian cultural tastes. By contrast, far out in the suburbs are car-dependent, residential-only, spread-out gated communities where swim clubs, golf courses, megachurches, and conservative families abide. So why do some choose one way to live, and some the other?

Did you know that UofL has on-campus organic gardens and a greenhouse where you can experience the thrill of turning tiny seeds into an abundance of fresh, free, hyper-local food year-round? Staff and students are always welcome to get involved and faculty can use the gardens as a teaching tool or research space for sustainability topics. Group workdays & monthly workshops are Fridays 12-1 p.m. at the Garden Commons (Cultural Center). A wreath-making workshop is Dec. 1.
