UofL will host its third Cardinal OUTlook Day Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Cardinal OUTlook Day is scheduled for Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The campus preview day showcases UofL and the support services that exist for LGBTQ students on campus.

This is the third year UofL is hosting Cardinal OUTlook Day. According to Lisa Gunterman, director of the LGBT Center on the Belknap campus, UofL is the only campus “we know of” that hosts an admissions event specifically designed for LGBTQ students.

“We have several visit opportunities throughout the year for different populations of students. We want them to know that we care about them as students and they are not only welcome on our campus, but they bring diversity and vibrancy to our student body that is valued,” said Megan Adams, assistant director of Admissions, Visits and Events.

Other special visit days are scheduled for homeschooled students, children of alumni and out-of-state students.

For OUTlook Day, participants have an opportunity to meet with UofL LGBT college student ambassadors, tour the campus, learn about academic programs and campus life, visit the LGBT Center and meet with Admissions officials about the application process. The day also includes lunch, an information packet and concurrent sessions for parents and school officials to talk to LGBT Center staff.

It is open to high school juniors, seniors and transfer students.

“We are so proud to be named one of the 25 most LGBT-friendly schools in the country, and now we want to make sure high school students are considering us as a college choice that will empower them to reach their highest potential,” said Brian Buford, LGBT Center executive director.

Registration is free, but an RSVP is required to confirm attendance. Register online.
