LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville School of Music’s annual Music in May Festival is back with a diverse lineup of performances in venues throughout the community.
The festival allows the school to demonstrate its commitment to outreach and bring music to the wider public via partners such as the Kentucky Derby Museum and Frazier History Museum.
“These musical events are our gift to our partners and the city at large,” said Michael Ramach, director of UofL’s Opera Theatre and festival organizer. “They demonstrate the depth and range of our talented students, alumni and faculty.”
2 p.m. May 12, Sunday Showcase, Speed Museum
The Guitar Ensemble headed by Stephen Mattingly will perform as part of the Speed’s Sunday Showcase.
7-9 p.m. May 16, Musical Theater Open Mic Night, University Club
The School of Music will host a live, musical theater sing-along to popular show tunes.
2 p.m. May 18, “The Kentucky Derby in Music,” Kentucky Derby Museum
UofL’s Music Therapy Program and Kentucky Derby Museum will present an interactive program.
3 p.m. May 19, The Brass Band of Louisville Concert, School of Music’s Comstock Hall
The Brass Band of Louisville will perform.
5:30 p.m. May 23, Night at the Bats, Louisville Slugger Field
UofL’s Steel Drum Band will play along with members of the UofL Marching Band.
8 a.m. May 27, Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike and Paddle, Waterfront Park
Members of the Brass Band of Louisville will perform a send-off for participants.
